The Collective of You

Regurgitated words come spewing out your mouth
Nothing more except somebodies garbage hidden beneath your tone
The lost tales you once heard somewhere in some stony alley
A raggedy tale from a wretched old man
who once lost his teeth in the war;
A bedtime goodnight from a sweet loving mother
who once gave her milk all for you;
A get rich scheme from a bum on the streets
who once never had it at all;
A young lovers romance from a gentle old widow
who once was the prize of her day;
After all said and done it will wither and fray
With your mind in a tangle and thoughts all afloat
The conscience will mingle yet begin to decay,
all you are and ever were begin to fade
and your crushing waves of personality brake away into the shores
as you lose yourself in the pool of life collecting on the washed up beaches
just north of that place we all call home.
