Spring

The wind swirls in tiny tornados across my back as I lay floating on my raft in the calm water. The breeze is warm and it carries with it the scent of the wildflowers which bloom on the shore. I open my eyes, look up, and see the branches of the ancient willow trees swirling in a hypnotic dance above me.

A sun shower begins and I close my eyes again and listen as the raindrops hit the water’s surface. The drops sound as though they are falling upon a thousand perfect crystals. I leap into the chilling depths and as I sink into the darkness all of my senses fade except for the water caressing my body as I swim to the bank.

Sitting in the lush spring grass, streams of rain run down my back causing me to shiver. Eventually though, the sun comes out and I lay drying myself amongst the colourful wildflowers.

I hear birds fluttering in the willow trees singing to no-one in particular and I decide to join them in song.

“Ribbit”

I’m a little hot now so I hop back into the water and swim in search of my leafy green raft.
