It is the Summer of 1964 and the surfing craze has well and truly hit the East Coast of Australia.
As teenagers we spent every weekend of that summer at our closest beach, Maroubra but on this day one of my friend’s fathers had taken us to Wanda Beach (Cronulla), in Sydney’s south.
In this photo are some of my best friends & in the background are Wanda’s famous sand dunes.
The original of this photo is in (fairly washed – out) colour but I found it had a lot more character when converted to black & White (infrared).

STUNNING !!!
Thanks once again, Guendalyn.
A classic surfie shot.
Thanks Mik. It certainly brings back a lot of memories.
Ahh … the 60’s … great days :)
A good conversion from the original !
Thanks Trish. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.
This is a fantastic capture of that era.
Please note as the subjects are known to the photographer, we can’t accept this shot in the Candid Photography group. Please don’t take that as a reflection on how great the shot is though.
Thanks for your comment Chris and for taking the time to explain the reason for your not accepting this image. It is appreciated.
