Artist's Description

This photo gives a much closer view of the Royal Yacht Britannia and of the Rocks area of Sydney as it was in March 1963.

You can also see the crowds of people trying to get a closer view of the Britannia.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were then in Australia primarily to attend Canberra’s jubilee celebrations which commemorated the fiftieth anniversary of the naming of the capital. The tour lasted from 18 February to 27 March

The corners of the buildings in the foreground are a couple of the piers at Circular Quay.

The photo was taken from the top of the AMP building.
