Artist's Description

The legendary South African golfer, Gary Player, wearing his trademark black golfing gear, blasts out of a bunker during the 1964 Australian Open at the Lakes Golf Club, Sydney.

Player won the Australian Open a total of seven times between 1958 and 1974.

This year (1964) Jack Nicklaus won the Open in an 18 hole play-off with the Australian golfer, Bruce Devlin.
