~ Contemplate the Gaze ~

Does she see the colour of the morning mist
Gently revealing the azure of the sky
The leaves of the oaks and elms displayed in their last hurrah
The colours of the feathers flying by

And what of the greens of the luscious grass and moss
Can she tell the difference of the shade
Or is it all just grey-scale and scent is her merriment
How different we are in how we’re made

But hey-up old lady you’ll live a few years yet
And each will pass as simmillar as the last
And we shall ever grateful that you feed us with your milk
No matter how you view the world in repast

So shudder off the questions and bow your head to graze
Your back will never break with heavy toil
And when you lay you down and take your final breath
With thanks we’ll set you deep beneath the soil

Our eyes will look out yonder to the valleys and the hills
To the view that you had lived with all your days
And we shall feel the envy that our lives were never still
Long enough to contemplate the gaze
