There's no such thing

We’re already broken, we’re already scarred
Looking for someone to re-start our no longer beating hearts
We’re already in pain, we’re falling apart
But we’re trapped in the present there’s no possibility to restart
Deaths knocking at the door, he keeps offering black holes
We keep greeting him, wishing for an escape, selling our souls
We can’t hold our heads up high, we hide, we crawl
We can’t rejoice, we howl, we hope to no longer fall
But we already have, we will again
That we’re going to change, ha let’s not pretend
This is why we hurt, it’s why we cry
This is why we are going to die
Blood is dripping from the ceiling
I’ve got that same peculiar feeling
Convincing ourselves we’re completely in control
We’re not, we’re drunk on raw emotion, our hearts are running cold
Care free spirits we keep repeatedly refusing
We’re only bruising to remind ourselves we’re losing
We’re only cutting to see it leak
Hoping that for once, our conscious won’t speak
We’re only cutting because we want to be revived
We want to be reminded that we’re all alive
It’s sad we have to break just to know we can
But one day we’ll all live our lives better in a perfect land
Escape from earth and its living h*ll, for a prize
To finally live happily in this preached of paradise
They say live well, then enjoy the time after you’ve finished life
But we’re all rushing like h*ll , because we’re focussed on this afterlife
Greeting each danger, each pain, knife and spike
We’re too curious about what it’s like
Hoping to deserve it, crying by wishing wells
Because we’re terrified we’re going to h*ll
It’s sad, people lie to make others feel better, but you have to understand
Because one of us killed herself to get to this promised land
But through my mind and prayer she spoke
And now I know that when she awoke
She was alone, the only noises in her head
Disappointing, but once you’re dead your dead
It’s only empty hope, there’s no perfect world above the sky
A person that tells you otherwise tells a lie
So now, the others walk sorrowfully hand in hand
They know they’ve got to make do as there’s no second chances, no promised land.

There's no such thing

Artist's Description

I’m not sure where my opinion stands on the issue of the after life and beliefs in heaven and so on. I am catholic, however I’ve always found the opinion far fetched. I see people wasting their lives that they have now for this suposedly perfect immortal life to come. As I said, I’m not sure wether I belive this after life exists but I felt like I had to get people to understand that no matter if there is a after life or not, the life they have now is important and they shouldn’t throw it away. Life now might not be perfect, but it’s better than no life at all, especially if heaven doesn’t exist. I’ve met a few people who are in dark places and I used this poem to explain their place of mind. I don’t mean to offend anyones beliefs in this poem! But everyones entitled to their own opinons. I hope you guys understand what I’m trying to say! :-)
