six words...picture/doors/ hallway/ books/ computer screen/ scanner

Sometimes the dullest picture evokes in us the sweetest memories… I recall the one of the doors my friend had in her hallway. When I first saw it I was transported in my mind to the Greek islands and the Peloponese. On my return home later i took down a stack of books from the shelf and began to search for a certain picture. It was, as I knew it would be, in one of my husband’s favourite tomes, old faded and dog eared now but bringing to each of us happy recollections. I turned to my computer screen and watched it as it fired up; then, carefully I placed the old photograph onto the scanner bed and clicked the relevant icons. I would revitalize our memories by restoring the picture. Two hours later it was on screen almost like new when John arrived from the allotment. “Ee lass, that’s goin’ back some. More than 60 years I’d say. I remember that day like it was yesterday and today you look even more lovely.” I turn and see him as he was and love him as he is my husband of more than 60 years.
