Hey there!

Thanks for stopping by :)

My name is Suvi and I’m a busy full-time mum and part-time Surfers Paradise-based journalist combining freelance writing and photography with raising my adorable five-year-old daughter Amity Maree :)

I love listening to people’s stories, and some of my more memorable interviewees have included former treasurer Peter Costello, former Victorian premiers Jeff Kennett and Steve Bracks, and footballer and Bali bombing survivor Jason McCartney.

Along with articles I also write fiction. Some of my stories have appeared in The Best Australian Stories, Griffith Review, Island, Southern Pacific Review and over 40 other literary publications both here and overseas. I’ve completed an MA in Writing and Literature and am currently working on a longer piece, a portion of which was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

I live on the Gold Coast with my obstetrician husband Luke (collaborator, editor, nonstop best friend) and our beautiful little girl :)

New Work:

A nation in pain: Can medicinal cannabis help?
An estimated 29 per cent of Australians suffer from chronic pain. Often sufferers are
prescribed opioids, yet opioids have been the leading cause of all drug-induced
deaths in Australia for the past 17 years. Increasingly, evidence supports the use of
medical marijuana for pain sufferers, yet the law in Australia has done little to support it. Orwellian laws, different requirements between states, and mountains of paperwork have all stood between doctors, sufferers and their relief. Read my full story in the Australian Quarterly magazine’s volume 89:

One of my stories was published in Westerly magazine’s issue 63.1:

I chat with author, presenter and member of the Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame Teresa Cutter about how she overcame eating disorders and dedicated her life to improving the health of others in Australian Yoga Life magazine’s issue 60:

I also write regularly for Mums At The Table, as seen on Channel TEN:

How do we die in a plane crash? That’s the subject of my article, ‘Learning How We Die In A Plane Crash Helped Me Overcome My Fear Of Flying’, found here on The Huffington Post:

More of my stories can be found on my Muck Rack page or by connecting with me on Facebook

And here’s a character I’ve created named Dani Jackson who makes chocolates for a living :)
