I disliked having to do this

But I had to put the large watermark back into the middle of my photographs. Someone (not from here) was cold busted by me using the ‘larger preview’ of a photo in said persons own work.

I think it distracts from the impact of some of the work, but it’s the only way I can prevent something like that from happening again.

CanonEOS Photo5

I have a little less than a week left, to get my last two submissions in. My biggest problem is my husband, Wing, is trying to be too helpful. I want to submit the photo of my choice, not his. I know he’s just trying to be helpful, but it’s causing sensory overload/too much information. Also,he keeps forgetting my computer is a touch screen. All I can say is thank goodness for CTRL-Z.

That is a bit irksome

You plot, plan to get a certain photograph. You creep and sneak to get the right angle. You have your camera waiting because you know the opportunity will be brief.

The fortunes are with you and you get it.

Then you have some arbitrary person dismiss and diminish your work as a ‘snapshot’.

Wow, did that go by fast

Just finished up my 5 week study with Pro photographer. So much learned in such a short time! Now it’s a matter of putting the instructions and lessons to use.

Also, he will be holding another one for intermediate/advanced. Oh yes, I will be signing up for that one when the time comes.

Photography Workshop with a Pro

I think I have learned more in the 4 hours I have had with him so far, than I have learned in 20 years. It’s not so much not reading the manuals (although I did confess to him I had tried on several occasions to do so, but after reading the same terms over and over, the eyes glaze over and the brain goes numb. He said this is common occurrence)

The Canon is much less intimidating. And I have learned new tricks with my workhorse DMC FZ50. And I get ‘homework’ after every session.

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go

Well, go tomorrow.

I was told to bring all my camera gear that I use, including lenses, filters, monopod, tripod, slide rail, batteries, chargers, etc etc. I spent over 90 minutes yesterday rummaging everything up, then spent another hour re-arranging my kit backpack to most of it would fit in. Can’t quite get everything into it but I will carry my workhorse (Lumix) on my neck. I was also told to bring some samples of my work. Oy.

Elation and terror in equal measures.

An opportunity

I have the opportunity to take a 5 week photography course/workshop with a professional photographer, 4 people in the class.

It’s a good opportunity.

This time, I’m taking it.

SwanCon 2010

Pretty much away from Thursday to Tuesday. I had thought about entering a piece, but because of how the ‘judges’ dismissed what I did last year (With the exception of RKM) and the same old same old got 1st, 2nd, 3rd (hey, one of the guest noticed that only my piece was in keeping with the Con’s theme of “Contact”).

It’s not sour grapes, as I got to show the piece to the GOH, and he was most impressed.
