La Trobe Reading Room - Saturday 4th January

I was invited to meet Mieke Boynton and many other RedBubblers for a photowalk across Melbourne. Mieke was down from Broome and would be in town for a few days and wanted to catch up with photography friends and Bubblers. It was a huge day for her and you can read all about it at:…

…and a delightful day was had by all!! by Mieke Boynton.

I was only able to meet the wandering troupe at the State Library, where we spent most time photographing the domed La Trobe Reading Room.

Thank you for organizing the day Mieke – it was good to meet so many new people and especially Bubblers I have never met. Many SITHOM2014 members were there too.

Here are a few photos from the stop off at the State Library.

New Layout Question

Does anyone know how I can set the display on all of my images to default to “Description” instead of “More Work” for all visitors?

I’m happy for the new visitor to click the other options if they want to, but I just want the “Description” to appear on every image for all new viewers.

Why do you suppose RedBubble have done this? The new layout is an improvement, but this permanent display of “More Work” is even worse than the last restriction imposed that had the “Show More Description” button.

Surely there could be a way to set the Default to what the artist wants.

Polio Survivors Need Your Help

Hi fellow Bubblers,
you may be wondering why I have posted this community plea here on RedBubble – it’s to ask you to sign a petition that will be handed to Federal Parliamentary Members, in Canberra on 31st October. The reason it’s important is explained below.
By why you ask, is old Rhoufi posting this? Well you see that little boy in the photo above, all bandaged up in a Double Thomas Polio Splint – that little boy was me, between 1952 and 1955.
I was very lucky, and recovered use of most of my muscles and have led a fairly active life. Only now am I noticing the Late Effects of those damage muscles. I wasn’t going to ask you good folk to share this, but we aren’t getting the signatures we need to make impact on the politicians.

Writing Is Hard - very hard

Even for Dorothy Parker

Dorothy Parker (August 22, 1893 – June 7, 1967) was an American poet, short story writer, critic and satirist, best known for her wit, wisecracks, and eye for 20th century urban foibles. See her on Wiki

She was 52 years old and had already published most of her famous works before she sent this telegram to her editor at Viking Press.

For all you writers who struggle to find the right words to express your thoughts – there is always hope. Struggle on.

Sign the petition and help eradicate Polio from our world.

As we mark World Polio Day today, I wanted to share with you the incredible impact The End of Polio campaign is having.

In the few months since the Global Poverty Project launched this campaign, more than 20,000 people from 100 countries have joined the call for world leaders to support polio eradication – and the government is listening.

In Australia, public support for this campaign has helped put the issue of polio eradication on the agenda at this week’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, and seen Prime Minister Gillard add her personal support to the campaign.

Can you help maintain this momentum by sharing the petition with your friends for World Polio Day?

We’re just days away from the biggest gathering of Commonwealth leaders in history, and we need as many voices

Icecream Kills Kids - Today is World Polio Day!

Today is World Polio Day!

If you are under 40 years old, you probably think it has been eradicated, well… please take 5 mins to stop and think about it. Did you imagine that Polio was something from the past? Well it isn’t. It’s still with us and there are new cases all around the world ever year. The Polio survivors of the 1950’s and ’60’s are now sufferring from the Late Effects of Polio and in the worst cases, “Post Polio Syndrome”. As a disease, it is one of the most devastating and its effects are returning to those survivors who thought they had put it all behind them.

The End Polio Campaign has Hugh Jackman on board with the above video and it’s a good one to send around!

Help raise Polio awareness so the heads of Government take the next step to eradicate it from the poor
