Poem and Illustration Published in NIGHT TO DAWN 28

This past Wednesday, I received my contributor’s copy of NIGHT TO DAWN 28. My dark poem “Redcap of Dunnor Peel” appears within, accompanied by the black and white version of my horror illustration “Grinning Redcap”. The poem is a reprint; “Redcap of Dunnor Peel” previously appeared in Issue 2 of THE SCAREALD, published October 2012. The illustration “Grinning Redcap” has not been previously published in a zine.

"Bluebell Spell" Published in APHELION

My reprint dark poem “Bluebell Spell” has been published in the April 2015 issue of the web-zine Aphelion. This piece, which was inspired by some of the lore surrounding the bluebell, originally appeared in parABnormal Digest, Issue 4, September 2012. I’m glad it’s found its way into a more seasonally-appropriate issue of a zine. After all, it’s really a spring poem (in a dark sport of way)!

Fun Sci-Fi Artwork on Cover of April 2015 SPACEPORTS & SPIDERSILK

My fun sci-fi artwork “Telling Tales” appears on the cover of the April 2015 issue of Spaceports & Spidersilk. I’m very pleased with this one. Check it out:

I think this is something like the 6th artwork of mine to appear on the cover/door of Spaceports & Spidersilk. I will add one more to that number in the fall. “Monster in the Ruin” was actually accepted for the fall issue before I created “Telling Tales” for the spring one. It works out that way sometimes.

Reprint Poem in NIGHT TO DAWN 27

Earlier, when I posted about my illustration recently published in NIGHT TO DAWN 27, I forgot to mention that my vampire poem “Life is the Life” has been reprinted in the same publication. The work originally appeared in THE MONSTERS NEXT DOOR Contest Issue 4.5, published November 15, 2008. It was the Poetry Winner, in THE MONSTERS NEXT DOOR “Through My Eyes” Writing Contest. It also appeared in the SCATTERED VERSES, MOONLIT CURSES Horror Poetry Anthology, and in the October 2011 issue of APHELION. Now it’s in NIGHT TO DAWN 27, on page 67.

Artwork Accepted for Cover of Spring SPACEPORTS & SPIDERSILK

I send off my latest artwork, a fun sci-fi piece, to the editor who requested something for her Spring 2015 issue. The editor’s response:…

“Very nice! I will write you an acceptance.”

And I have already received the acceptance. So, it looks like my fun sci-fi artwork “Telling Tales” will be appearing on the cover of the Spring 2015 issue of Spaceports & Spidersilk. That means I will have art on both the spring and the fall issues! The editor previously accepted my monster artwork “Monster in the Ruin” for the fall.

Nice! Definitely not bad for an artist who has taken something of a hiatus from the world of genre publications. Even though I have declared I want to take a break from working on art for publications, I don’t mind making the occasional exception and doing a few pieces on request

"Morgan Le Fay" Cover Art for Jan '15 BARDS AND SAGES QUARTERLY

My fantasy artwork “Morgan Le Fay” appears on the cover of the January 2015 issue of Bards and Sages Quarterly. I drew Morgan in the garb of a highborn medieval lady. That’s how I draw sorceresses!

This piece is actually an updated version of a Morgan Le Fay composition I sold on a bookmark at a local medieval fair and a handful of local arts and crafts fairs. I had a series of bookmarks featuring figures from Arthurian legend. And, yes, they did sell. However, this updated Morgan is much improved over the old.
