Hello everyone,…

My name is Monique, and I am Joe’s youngest daughter.

It is with great sadness that I must let you know that Joe passed away early Saturday morning, August 25th 2012. He was at home and surrounded by his family.

Some of you may know about his courageous battle with leukaemia, which we thought he had won. But in April they found a brain tumour which was incurable. Back then, they told us he had 4 weeks, but Dad being Dad, he defied the doctors yet again and stayed with us for another 3 and a half months. The way he handled the news and the slow but steady deterioration of his health was an inspiration to us all. For last 2-3 weeks have not been able to upload image 95% times that I have tried.
Can’t get the page “load” page to open….redbubble just gets hung up and I have to close and leave
However have been active daily in “My Bubble” and in group forums…without problems during the same sessions

Walhalla Historic Gold Mining Town.

Marion and I passed through Walhalla around 7 years ago on our way to Woods Point.

At the time we noted from the locals that you could camp along the creek in the main street, and that really appealed to us.
Some of the town buildings had been restored and looked very quaint and set in this narrow gorge along the edge of Stringers Creek in the valley it was a very charming spot and we promised ourselves we would go back.

We finally got there this month and the main street camping had mainly been stopped by the shire and turned into day visitor areas, but a few selected spots remained along the meandering road.
We chose to camp at North Peak on the edge of town. This is a free camp area, set between the mountains, heavily treed and very

I now know why some athletes take them.

Due to a medical hiccup I was put on a strong dose of steroids a few months back. This dosage has been slowly reduced since then but in the meanwhile life did change somewhat..
I started getting up at 2.00am and “had” to edited photos, complete some writing and setup check lists for my up coming camping trip…I was so pumped up and running.
Things did improved after a little while and that changed to rising at 4.00am, but the level of activity was intense

My wife although concerned at my level of activity was very pleased that after some years that I had arranged to re carpet our house within days, something I had really been procrastinating about for a long time.
However I think she is still a bit bewildered and cannot und

I joined ACE CAFE here on RB a couple of weeks ago…really good critique/tough… but overall a good crowd.
I have benefited a lot since joining.
Images have to win 10 votes and can only be lodged with an explanation of why you voted that way…a real good learning environment with good feed back.

They also have a “workshop”area that I have also contributed to and that is more at couching enviroment,no voting here with people making recommendations…I got a lot of value out of that too.

West McDonell Ranges, NT

A dirt circuit drive just west of Alice Springs, will have you discovering the West McDonall Ranges.

Traveling on Namatjira Drive and Larapinta Drive this dirt loop covers around 400km and can be done in a car except for Palm Valley that requires high clearance 4wd.

Camping is available at numerous National Park facilities on route.

Tents and caravans are catered for along with free nightly entertainment which we found was a feature of many caravan parks in the Alice Springs area.

Tanami Track, WA

The Tanami Track heads off to WA from just outside Alice Springs.
This dirt track is around 1170km and finishes on the western side of Australia at Halls Creek.

After an eleven hour drive out of Alice Springs were at the turn off to Balgo Hills whos community is located about 37km off the Tanami Track. The locals from Balgo refer to the turn off as “down at the corner”

Can you imagine the reality of this?…get your head around it.You work and live at Balgo Hills,you need to do some serious city shopping.You leave Balgo and drive 37km to the corner, turn right on the rough dirt Tanami Track, you drive straight on, there are no turn offs, and around eleven hours latter you arrive at Alice Springs to shop,asssuming no punctures or breakdowns.
