Redbubble is committed to sustainability, so you can rest assured that the gifts you buy on our marketplace have a minimal negative impact on the environment and the people who made them. Our products are printed on demand in your area, keeping our carbon footprint as small as possible.

Every gift listed below is designed by an independent artist, printed on demand, and shipped directly to you in materials made from recycled content so that you can shop small and give with a clean conscience this year.

Tips for Eco-Friendly Gift Wrapping

Before wrapping the gift in traditional wrapping paper, consider that 2.3 million pounds of wrapping paper end up in landfills during the holiday season. Instead, take a stab at one of these eco-friendly gift-wrapping techniques.

Use fabric

Replace your gift wrap with an unused fabric scrap or a scarf

  1. To start, place your gift in the center of the fabric square.
  2. Fold one corner over the gift and tuck it under the gift.
  3. Do the same with the opposite corner.
  4. Fold in the other edges to bunch the fabric.
  5. Lift both ends towards each other over the gift.
  6. Tie the two ends together.
  7. Tuck loose fabric under the knot.

Use vintage

If you have any old newspapers, maps, sheet music, or other paper items, use them as wrapping paper. You can use them the same as you would traditional wrapping paper. You can also cut old clothing into strips to create bows or wrap around a gift like a ribbon.

Add some nature

Replace bows with colorful flowers, sprigs from your Christmas tree, or a small tree branch or piece of wine. No need to order anything special—just pop into your backyard to see what’s available.

Use a tote bag

Instead of a gift bag that’s used once and then tossed, put the gift in a reusable tote bag they can use when they shop. Use fabric to create a bow, pin on a sprig of holly, or hang a festive bell from the handle to give it a festive vibe.

Reuse whatever is handy

Most importantly, don’t throw out the packaging materials the gifts were shipped in.

Redbubble’s packaging is all made from recycled materials and can easily be upcycled into wrapping paper or a gift box. You can also use brown paper bags from the grocery store or bubble wrap.

Redbubble is the place for unique eco-friendly gifts, no matter the occasion. We hope you’ll join us as a shopper or one of our independent artists to find (or make!) unique gifts for everyone on your list.

For more gift inspiration, our other gift lists are great places to start your search. If you can’t find the perfect gift, get a gift card so the recipient can find it themselves.
