Australian Landscape Photography by Michael Boniwell. All images copyright. This is image is suitable for enormous prints. View Larger on Chockstone Photography Camel Rock is small outcrop at the far end of a long sandy beach near the beautiful little seaside town of Bermagui (Est. 1830) in New South Wales, almost as far south as you can get before ending up in Victoria. Most of my efforts in this location have focused on these sea stacks from the opposite side. On this trip I had patrolled that zone across a few days, but with the tide quite high it was proving difficult to get the compositions I wanted. Clinging to wet rocks with an expensive medium format camera and a heavy tripod whilst being hit by spray has limited appeal. Walking out, I turned around for one last look, and was suddenly taken by this arrangement of the crags that had previously escaped my attention. How had I missed such an obvious shot? I pushed my tripod deep into the sand and let the waves swirl around my legs, shooting hundreds of frames over the course of an hour or so, until a colour twilight glow lit the sky. Of the images, this one held my gaze. There is something about the soft waves against the hard rocks, and that vivid light. Hope you like it as much as I.
