"Plaza Positos" - Oil painting of an old Mexican door
Original painting available here In late 2003 I spent 6 weeks living and painting in Guanajuato City, in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. Situated on the Eastern edge of the Sierra Madre mountains, this perfectly preserved Spanish Colonial town is home to some wonderful examples of 17th Century European architecture. I was struck immediately by the contrast between the opulent nature of these buildings, and the seemingly normal and everyday lifestyle of the inhabitants. Through the open door you can see a tiny open air plaza, these secret spaces often remain hidden from public view.
