Malagasy comet moth Madagascar wildlife - white print
The Malagasy comet moth - also known as moon moth - is probably one of the most beautiful lepidopterans; and with a wingspan of 20 cm it is definitely one of the largest moths. It's a dimorphic species: males have a lot longer tail while females have a bit rounder and broader wings. The adults of this nocturnal moths can not feed: they live from the supplies built up as caterpillar before - that lasts only five to six days, so they only mate and lay eggs during their short lives.
