Rakeahua Hut - Stewart Island Watercolour
In November 2021 a group of us attempted to land at Christmas Village Bay to hike Mt Anglem/Hananui. The sea was too rough so we ended up doing a chunk of the South West Circuit. Spoiler alert: It's STUPIDLY muddy, but if you approach with a sense of adventure it's great fun. The third day was a heck of a challenge as we had to traverse 8 hours of mud to reach a tide dependant water taxi at Rakeahua hut. If not we'd be stuck in the muddle of nowhere!
