HAUNCH OF VENISON
Better amputating instead of killing? – The German philosopher Richard David Precht asked in his philosophy show the question: "Are we allowed to eat animals?" His guest, the Catholic philosopher Robert Spaemann, has been working intensively on questions of animal ethics. He considers the consumption of meat to be justified - in line with the Christian view that God also created the animals for man to use them. Precht asked Speamann, inter alia, to imagine the following situation: "You do not buy a deer at Christmas, but you go to someone who breeds deer. You chose a deer. The deer is anesthetized and then one of his leg is amputated. Then it is carefully sutured. Now, it is a three-legged deer, but can survive in captivity as a three-legged deer. And you eat the haunch of venison... – would you do that
