Involution Flow
Lavender and moss, the tangle and the flow. Made in 2018. This is a print of original art I created using fluid art techniques and graphical editing. This art is a melding of the physical and the digital. It begins with liquid acrylic paint poured over coated paper. I move the paint without the touch of a brush. When I tilt the surface, gravity is my paintbrush. When I blow on the paint, my breath pushes it. I drag the paint with sticks and pallette knives, with strings and chains, with paper and card. I part the rivulets with combs. I squish surfaces together and pull them apart. There are many different techniques I use, but even when I use the same techniques with the same colours, each painting is different. The next stage is performed in the digital realm. The dried painting is captured, either by camera or by scanner. Then I play. Sometimes I tweak just a little, sometimes a lot. I play with the colours, the contrasts, put in varied difference filters and shaped masks. I add light and shade. I seek the image that is crying to come out. Note that, depending on the item it is printed on, this art may be cropped, rotated, mirrored, or tiled, depending on what fits best on the item.
