Decatur Texas Courthouse
Texas is famous for its courthouses. Most of these were built between 1855 and 1875. This is the Wise County Courthouse, built in 1891 at a cost of $110,000 to replace the previous courthouse that burned down. This is the third courthouse in Decatur. Both previous courthouses burned.
This is perhaps the most remarkable of all the Texas courthouses.
The castle-like construction combined with the sheer size of this courthouse put it at the top of my list for favorite Texas buildings.
