Beneath the Pyramid
For this one, I established the Transamerica Pyramid with long, pale vertical washes, leaving narrow strips of white paper to suggest sunlight along its façade. The copper-green dome and arched stonework were handled with a smaller brush and warmer, more deliberate color. San Francisco often places its architectural eras shoulder to shoulder, and I wanted this painting to celebrate that slightly improbable but very beautiful arrangement.
