    Forgive Them... (Reworked)
This is an earlier piece that I took with my Medium Format Camera a Mamiya 645, 50mm lens, F11@1/30 Submitted for this lent period. I was trying to find a church to go to out side the Quantico Marine Base and came across a life size statue of Christ on the Cross. I traveled about 35 minutes on this two lane highway and was about to turn around when I spotted the cross. Shot at low angle with the idea of being a witness to the event. I reworked the lighting to reflect a more realistic color pallet. INFO: At that point, darkness covered the land. A little later, as Jesus gave up his spirit, an earthquake shook the ground, ripping the Temple veil in two from top to bottom. Matthew's Gospel records, "The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life." Jesus' final hours on the cross lasted from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a period of about six hours. Luke 23:46 - Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.
