Water Droplets In Motion
This montage is made up of various water droplets which are captured as they bounce back up, off the basin of water into which they were sprinkled...sometimes bringing the pooled water back up with it. A turkey baster was used to dribble water into a water bowl, with one hand, while holding down the shutter release with my other hand. Hundreds of photos were taken to capture just the right images for this montage. Painstaking patience was required to get just the right lighting and focus, not to mention the water droplet itself via very still motion and perfect timing. A lamp was used to light up the water as it fell from the side of the bowl to provide more of a reflection. I captured these images with my Nikon D700 using a micro 105mm lens at high speed. The results were enhanced and resized with Aperture, and a few of the image's color were modified using Nik Software's Color Efex Pro plug-in. Finally, Photoshop was used to piece the individual resulting images into a montage. The colors and adjustments provide a very nice contrast from image to image, while offering a very pleasing and calming effect for the montage as a whole. Note: featured in "Shapes and Patterns"
