View Larger on Chockstone Photography Wannon Falls, not far from Hamilton in Victoria, is fed by the Wannon River and crashes 30 metres into a deep pool. After some rain it's a thundering torrent of muddy foam, with spray engulfing even the distant viewing platform. However, it can also be much more sedate, or even reduced to a trickle in a hot summer. With nearby toilets and camping area, it makes a great spot to get off the Glenelg Highway and break up a long trip. The falls create their own wind, so much so, that the first couple of times I tried the photograph it the trees were moving constantly. I kept checking in on it from time to time, until I managed to capture it with just the right amount of water. Enough to convey the drama of the place, not too much to whip up a gale.
