Volcano Colours
Taken on White Island, an active volcano rising out of the sea in the Bay Of Plenty, New Zealand.
About 70 percent of the volcano is under the sea, making this massive volcanic structure one of the largest in New Zealand.
It last erupted in 2000. In 1914 part of the western wall collapsed killing ten miners who were mining sulphur on the island.
This was taken in the base of the cone where water had evaporated leaving these colours and pattern.
