Vintage Strongwoman Charmion Flexing - 1897
This late 19h century US Entertainment History print features Charmion, a vaudeville trapeze artist and strongwoman, who was particularly well-known for her suggestive performance in a movie shot by Thomas Edison in 1901. Her real name was Laverie Vallee, Charmion hailed from Sacramento and conducted a routine wherein she started her act fully dressed and gradually stripped down to her leotards while trapezing.
