The Straining Post
A corner straining post on stockyards ~ 30kms from the Oodnadatta Track, along the rough side track to Halligans Bay - Lake Eyre, South Australia.
These yards may look rickety - well I guess they are really - but they are actually working stock yards. Trees of any substance simply don't exist in this environment - just have a look at the background - so, ramshackle, white anted 'posts' are the best make do.
The fencing wire is in good nick though. Heavy duty wire it is too. It has to be. The cattle out here are as tough as the land itself is.
