The Gathering
Historic Hotel Nevada in Ely, Nevada.
Open continuously since 1929. Now motorcycles take the place of horses that were seen in front 45 years ago when once in awhile someone would take the challenge of riding his horse into the lobby. In those days they didn't arrest you, they called your folks! Fun was had by all and nothing was destroyed. Once in awhile someone was roped and led out to the street as everyone cheered. Hotel owners and tourists loved it. It was almost a tradition. Challenges were issued among the horse men and women on 4th of July after the parade when they were already in their best riding regalia. It's still part of the old west in my mind.
