The Colors of Bishop Castle

Stained glass windows adorn parts of Bishop Castle in Wetmore, Colorado, USA in July, 2010. I like this excerpt from an article by "HP" of Matadortravel.com about some elements of this castle built by one man: "Imagine Disney without any Health & Safety and you've got a good idea. Crooked stained glass windows cast colourful patterns on the ground and rickety towers reach up as high as 160ft into the sky. Wrought iron walkways cling to the walls and spiral staircases encircle the towers. Doors lead to nowhere and in places, ladders are tied to the building, bridging the gaps where work is still incomplete. It is, quite frankly, insane and as the work of one man, astonishing. An enormous dragon (made from metal hospital trays) can shoot fire six feet into the air thanks to the aid of a hot air balloon burner. You can see why kids love it and could easily spend an hour or so exploring higher and higher...or until your nerve fails you."
