    Temperance
Temperance- Emotional balance, moderation, self control, synergy. Harmonious situation. When we consider temperance there are a number of ways to look at it. We could look at the process of tempering a blade the smith works back and forth to create a balanced sword. Think of the imagery in the traditional tarot, the temperance angel pouring water back and forth between two cups. Perhaps one cup is ice cold, perhaps one cup is boiling hot, the mixing of the two extremes brings balance. Even the act of balancing while on the surface the person appears still, their body is making lots of small barely discernible corrections and back and forth movements. Temperance is going back and forth looking at the results coming to balance. Sometimes we need to step back and take a breath and see where we are at in the process. Death - Massive change, The end of a cycle, Release, rebirth, severing ties accepting change. The only constant in life is change and the death card is simply representing change. That can be dramatic in the case of bodily death or it can be as simple as waking from a nap, or choosing a different way home. For the art a painting of Persephone felt appropriate. Persephone is the Queen of the Underworld in Greek Mythology, a fertility goddess abducted by Hades her name changed from “Kore” maiden to “Persephone”. “Bringer of Death.” What truly invites death more than new life?
