Spa Monkeys

Take a moment to relax. A Design that was inspired by the topic of ''self care'' The snow monkeys or Japanese macaques are known to enjoy taking a bath in the cozy warm water of the Jigokudani hot spring. Researchers found out, that they show a lower stress level compared to their non bath taking monkey friends in the rest of the Japan. They truly are masters of self care. My intention was to design an image that at a first looks like a simple pattern. But if you take a closer look you discover how every monkey tells its own story of how to relax and take some time off. The colour pallete shows colours like blue, violet and a light rose, which are associated with tranquility and balance. Thanks to this painting my longing for visiting Japan just got bigger!
