Remarkable Rocks
So last weekend I was down in Adelaide for work and decided to make the most of it and take a trip to Kangaroo island over the weekend. Having never been over there before I put out the feelers on the 'Focus Group' forum and received some excellent advice from a fellow member Tim Poulton giving the killer locations to photograph. I ended up basing my accommodation around this advice and made sure I stayed close to the locations that I wanted to try and nail. So I got on the ferry at Cape Jervis after a long bus ride from Adelaide and made my way onto a very rocky ferry ride. A few people made the bolt to the toilet with an upset stomach, but I was all good. Arriving in Penneshaw I hired a 4wD through my corporate rates discounts and ended up with a Prado which was great as a majority of the island is made up a dirt roads. The weather was so unpredictable and one minute I was running back to the car to escape a rain squall and then the next minute I was presented with the most amazing light and rainbows. This image was shot down at the Remarkable Rocks just after sunrise. The first morning I was here I had to bolt back to the car to avoid a massive rain squall. I had this place all to myself and was able to do any composition without anyone walking into the frame. Although I love shooting with my mates, sometimes there is nothing better than just being out there on your own!!!! Image Specs: Canon 5Dmk2 17-40 @f/22 ISO 100 2 minute exposure I used by black glass filter (essentially welding googles :)
