    Programmed
Programmed. This piece has been created to explore the idea that people can be programmed. Programmed to believe positive things and negative things. Discriminatory things and hateful things. Nice things and fake things. Truths and untruths. We are all influenced by the world around us, and much of what we believe may not have originated from deep within ourselves. Our thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviours can be shaped by the outside world. By our media, friends, family, school, universities, people, politics, news, TV, movies, shows and so much more. Some of these influences can teach us compassion, kindness, understanding and positive ways of thinking. Others can teach us negativity, hatred, discrimination, prejudice, fear and beliefs that are simply not true. We will all possess a mixture of positive and negative programs, in varying portions. It is so very important, to examine and analyse your thoughts and beliefs. Ask yourself: Where did this belief come from? Why do I believe this? Is it actually true? Am I thinking for myself, or am I repeating something I have been taught? Start examining the negative programs you carry. The negative thoughts, feelings and beliefs that influence how you see yourself, other people and the world. Use logic and rational thinking to work through them. Challenge what you have been taught. Be willing to question your own beliefs. And if you choose to, seek support from a professional, such as a therapist, coach or counsellor. You do not have to accept every program you have been given. You can question it. You can challenge it. You can change it. Not everything you think is your own thought. Not everything you believe is the truth. Examine what has been programmed into you.
