Australian Landscape Photography by Michael Boniwell. All images copyright. This is image is suitable for enormous prints. View Larger on Chockstone Photography Constructed from local sandstone in 1883 Point Lowly lighthouse aimed to guide ships safely through Spencer Gulf en route to Port Augusta and Port Pirie in South Australia. These days the lighthouse and its cottages operate as a tourist attraction. The lighthouse is the oldest building in the Whyalla area and stands at over 20 metres tall. Captured here in the dawn light, it looks like a lonely sentinel gazing out over the ocean.
