Nobbys Lighthouse sits at the end of a long walkway that extends out onto Nobbys Head, providing a very popular walking and jogging path for the active residents of Newcastle who are up and about even in the wee small hours of the morning. Guarding the entrance to Newcastle Harbour, the lighthouse has been a prominent landmark of the area for over 150 years and continues to safely direct ships.
Having attempted to capture this scene several times, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by a colourful yet peaceful sunrise on this occasion. A long exposure softened the water, further enhancing the sense of tranquillity. The only issue was timing my shots to avoid foot traffic along the busy pathway. Good to see so many people up and about getting fresh sea air and plenty of exercise.
