Nap Time
I got nothin' but marmots today. I'm still looking for pikas - they're out, but since there's nothing growing above tree-line for them to gather & eat yet, they're surviving off their winter stores and only out intermittently. Which is a shame - the weather was GORGEOUS today; sunny, little wind, very mild temps. So, since pikas weren't on the photographic menus, I made due with marmots, and there were LOTS of them out and about. This guy was rooting around in the gravel, licking minerals from the rocks (not the most exciting behavior to photograph). I had almost given up on him doing anything interesting and was about to move along, when he quickly shifted into stretch & yawn mode. It happened so quickly I didn't have time to zoom out for the full body image - I was lucky to capture a brief series of stretches & yawns. He then trundled off, probably for a quick nap.
