Mutual Understanding

Mutual Understanding This is Clifford, our newest member to our family. Clifford took a while to acclimate to his new surroundings, and finally I do believe that he feels like he is at "home". Meanwhile, we seem to have a couple of raccoons living under the deck in the back of the house. Well, we also have 3 cats that love to explore under that deck... I'm not really sure what is going on here, but it would seem to me that the cats all have an understanding with these raccoons. There have been numerous times when the raccoon came out to eat some fallen birdseed, and the cat(s) would just sit there and watch him. The other day, when I took this picture, I made a sound to get the raccoons attention, and instead of just looking at me, it walked up the two steps onto the deck and was coming right towards me! But, she stopped when she got up to Clifford. This raccoon literally touched her nose to Cliffords, and Clifford just sat there completely unfazed about what just happened. It was me who was in shock because I was certain I was just about to see a nasty cat/raccoon fight. How crazy is that? lol
