Theres a bit of a story behind this one, Originally I has taking a bus from Queenstown to Wanaka, however as we climbed from the cloudy day of Queenstown over the Crown pass the bus simply crossed through the cloud and into one of the most amazing views I had ever seen. On the spur of the moment I ran to the front of the little bus and demanded he simply dumped me at the roadside. The bus-driver reluctantly accepted. Alone miles from anywhere and still awe struck at the view I decided to hike upward along the mountain ridges for the sunset. This is where i stayed until the darkness fell.. 3 Hours later at the roadside, I was beginning to give up in the now -5 and decreasing temperatures. No cars had passed and lift chances were getting slim. I had left my tent in Auckland which was now seeming pretty silly, so instead stuffed my thin summer sleeping-bag with tussock grass and donned all my clothes. As i pulled a tarp over myself in the ditch in the distance a light appeared...a car. An hour later I triumphantly drove into the lights of Wanaka and a warm bed.
