Imperia
For those who don't know--this is Imperia a sort of German 'Statue of Liberty' set on the harbour of Lake Cosntance/Bodensee in Germany at the border with Switzerland. Upon first seeing it some months back, I assumed it was just a feminist symbol, but there is also some history behind it. Imperia was actually an Italian prostitute/courtesan. She is holding Pope Martin and King Sigismund, two apparently rather corrupt individuals--she was born after their time, but a 'story' was written involving these three. It was 'erected' in 1993. Quite an eye catching statue. Seen it lots of times, but as it was a clear sky today, I took a shot. Also, as pointed out by Matthew Scotland, the statue closely resembles the depictions of Temple Prostitutes/whore of Bablylon/snake goddess.
