View Larger on Chockstone Photography Opened in 1940, Story Bridge is the longest steel cantilever bridge in Australia. Spanning the Brisbane River it overlooks the city of Brisbane in sunny Queensland. Being a few days travel away, and all the time and money that entails, Brisbane hasn't been a frequent haunt of mine. On this trip I had less than a week in the area and was understandable quite keen to explore several locations. As such, I'd allocated a single dawn attempt for Story Bridge, and that was only after backing out of a nocturnal hike I'd first planned. The weather at this time of year is usually about sun, sun and more sun, so my expectations for some nice clouds were low to non-existent. Past attempts to photograph Brisbane had lead me to believe there was little chance of amazing fiery skies. However, when I arrived I was, of course, quite taken by the festive lighting arrangement they'd installed. Then clouds drifted by just as the pre-dawn warmed up, and suddenly the city was really aglow with a colourful display!
