"View Larger on Chockstone Photography":http://www.chockstonephotos.com/Australian-Print.asp?ID=1064 The Kiewa River is a picturesque alpine stream that flows down from the snowfields of Falls Creek before winding its way past the township of Mount Beauty. Its crystal-clear water and shady riverbanks attract plenty of walkers keen to experience the trail leading upstream towards The Gorge, where the river narrows dramatically between rocky outcrops. The trek involves at least four river crossings, so expect to get your feet wet. Over the years, our own attempts have usually involved gumboots, making it possible to keep our socks dry, but most walkers simply accept the inevitable and plunge through boots and all. At the gorge itself, further progress is only possible by swimming, something attempted only by brave souls willing to take on the icy water. From a photography perspective, this section of the river immediately caught my eye because of its almost impossibly lush green hues. I love the way the water reflects the surrounding vegetation, creating such vibrant colour throughout the scene. Fortunately, capturing this image did not require becoming submerged myself.
