Blue-Ringed Octopus
The greater blue-ringed octopus, Hapalochlaena lunulata, grows to just 10 centimeters long. This charming ocean friend lives a solitary life in shallow Indo-Pacific waters, only leaving its burrow to seek food and a mate. Its bite delivers a paralyzing neurotoxin that can prove fatal to humans. Fun fact: the standard English plural of octopus is octopuses, not octopi!
