View Larger on Chockstone Photography I've driven past this tree many times and thought that there was a shot there in the right light. Very late one autumn season I was again passing through on a mad dash into the mountains. Once more the tree appeared, only this time it was amazingly back lit by golden light filtered through the yellow leaves. I had to stop. In the end I spent so long working out an angle that gave it a pleasing aspect, and shooting it over and over until I’d avoided all lens flare that I subsequently ran out of time to make my next intended location. Somehow that didn't matter. I slowed down and stopped trying to cram as much as I could into a the few days I had. It was like spending time under that tree changed my outlook for the whole trip. Over the next few days I drove some big distances as usual visiting some mountain huts but without putting myself under the familiar pressure to tick off as much as I could. As a result I came home refreshed, and with some great shots. Maybe I've learned something.
