3-Rotor Enigma Machine
The version supplied to the German army and airforce during World War II - 1939-1946AD. Captured and now on exhibit at Bletchley Park Museum. The codes were crsacked by the genius of Alan Turin and his team.
The people of Poland braved hiddeous penalties to get this technology information to Britain and two sailors of the Royal Navy lost their lives in a sinking submarine having gone back to get more code books after they had passed up an Enigma machine to their ship.
This is a fabulous experience worth a 2-day visit. Fascinating to work through some of the coded messages.
