View Larger on Chockstone Photography Built in 1916 for grazing, Westermans Homestead resides inside the Namadgi Historic Homestead Triangle roughly north of Kosciuszko and south of Canberra. It's easily accessible via a short walk. Having visited it a few times whilst exploring other huts in the area, I was convinced a there was a photograph to be made, but could never quite obtain some favourable light and cloud. Nearby trees tend to cast unwanted shadows late in the day, and my attempts at dawn were met with uninteresting skies. One afternoon I found myself once again in the area with some time to spare to headed in for yet another look. A storm was brewing and as any landscape photographer will tell you that can be the best time to capture the light. Luck was on my side with the late evening sun spot lighting my subject behind a curtain of scattered cloud.
