Sealers Cove Awakens, Wilsons Promontory, Victoria, Australia
Australian Landscape Photography by Michael Boniwell. All images copyright. This is a tack sharp 95 megapixel image, suitable for enormous enlargements. View Larger on Chockstone Photography Wilsons Promontory (or “The Prom” is it is known) resides on the southern most point of mainland Australia. A circuit hike spending a night each at Sealers Cove, Refuge Cover and Little Waterloo Bay is probably the Prom's most popular trek. (Drinking water can be found at each camp, but you'll need to treat it with purification tablets). In the right light the ocean can be breathtakingly blue, and beaches devoid of foot prints are not impossible to find. It's a still a serious walk in the sense that you're at best some hard hours away from help should anything go wrong, but the beaches are so glorious it feels more like an island holiday than a challenging hike with all the usual aches and pains.
