View Larger on Chockstone Photography The Remarkable Rocks sit exposed to the weather and waves of the Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo Island in South Australia. A delightful place, Kangaroo Island is well recommended. Access is via an expensive 45 minute ferry ride, which will accommodate your car. Don’t underestimate the size of the island, you need two or three of days to see everything. The precariously balanced group of granite boulders, some as tall as a house are very popular with tourists who arrive by the bus load and swarm all over them, posing for their picture. To find time alone with the subject and get the best photographic conditions required several dawns and sunsets and a good deal of patience. Although I might scout compositions for hours, typically the optimum moment lasted only a couple of minutes, so I became very good at pleading with people to move their shadow out of the scene.
