Purple Rocks
This is a JET III digital photograph from spring 2004 in early May. It is inspired by purple Puddingstone rocks and arranged like this to keep the dogs coming down the street from peeing on the flowers. The purple rocks were deposited here during the last ice age after the ice melted and have white streaks resembling old style pudding. I have collected from off my property and also at the town recycling center. What is really special about this photo is that the yellow Primrose flowers that were collected as seedlings from my grandmother's garden before she died and her house was sold. They come up every year in different places and like the full sun as you can see here, but will manage well in partial shade as well. Purple and yellow are complementary colors. I wrecked this patch to some extent by putting red mulch on it the following winter, but it is coming back little by little. Seems they liked the leaves better, but they need the leaf covering to thrive over the winter. The tree in the background is a large spruce that was there when I bought the property.
