Built in the 1950s, Horse Camp Hut resides along the Munyang Corridor within Kosciuszko National Park at the end of a steep 4km walk or ride from Guthega Power Station public car park. It is a popular campsite, with the cute little dwelling often surrounded by tents and enthusiastic hikers. In winter you will need snowshoes or cross-country skis.
For the fit, continue on to Schlink Hut, which makes it 23km return journey, with an option to stop at Whites River Hut along the way. Horse Camp Hut is, at least at the time of writing, in surprisingly good condition offering flooring, some basic furniture and places to sleep.
This image was captured at dawn under some bright golden sunlight. The hut and surrounding trees looked fantastic, with that red door really standing out, just asking the weary walker to step inside.
